Jane Craig
Jane’s dream was to have dinner on the harbour with James Valentine, Richard Glover and Michael Friedlander. The whole dream was donated by Cruise restaurant and Circular Quay/Southern Cross hire cars chauffeur limousines.
This was Jane's Story:-
"I am happy to share this information with the world..
1. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1991 - aged 36, requiring a mastectomy and 6 months of chemotherapy. Metastatic disease (bone) raised its ugly head in 1991, I have been under the care of POW Oncology department for all this time. I have been under continuous treatment since 1991. Since 1996, I have had multiple episodes of bone disease requiring radiotherapy.
In 2001, I was diagnosed with a left side dural tumour (dura = cover of brain), requiring full brain radiotherapy. 2005 - Liver metastases. 2006 # arm due to metastatic disease. 2007, another brain lesion demanding further radiotherapy.
In between these occasions, I have maintained incredible wellness. I have had unending and unfaltering support of family and friends.
I heard about Dreams2Live4 via Michael Friedlander, my physician, as we planned the most recent strategy... I imagined that these surprises usually belonged to sick children.
2. To be honest I feel a little uncomfortable being offered a "dream". It seems like more of a bonus to me.
Although I have had cancer for 16 years and would certainly prefer to be without it, my life has been a wonderful journey. Wonderful, not for what I have done, but to have journeyed through it in such amazing company.
There are many dreams still, but I have an acceptance of the future.
3. The chosen ones - oh dear!
As Italy was not on the Dream list (only kidding) - what do I enjoy, who makes me laugh?
Michael Friedlander has been my support for 16 roller-coasting years - I cry, I laugh - we make a plan for forging on.
Afternoons at home, in my car, I always listen to James and Richard. They too make me laugh. They add value. Part of the tapestry..."
